Week 39 of Pregnancy

Baby's growth

The baby's too big to move around much. Many mothers find that their babies move less at this time. This is probably the case with you. Try to count your baby's movements if you can count at least 10 to 15 during the day.

Weight: 7 1/4 pounds / Size: 20 inches

Changes in mother

Once the baby descends to your lower abdomen, he will be able to breathe better, but he will have to urinate more often because it will put pressure on his bladder. As his ligaments stretch and loosen, walking, even short distances, becomes increasingly uncomfortable. It is normal for you to feel uncomfortable because of the pressure and weight of the baby. Rest as much as possible.

It's good you know...

You might be thinking about how you'll stand the pains of childbirth. Among what you will want to learn are the techniques most often used to relieve pain. These include breathing techniques, such as those taught in psychoprophylactic courses, injectable pain relief medications, and epidural anesthesia, in which the doctor gives you an anesthetic through a thin, soft catheter placed in your lower back. The more you know, the better you can talk to your doctor about your options.
